Uploading your video on Viously is quick and easy, whether you're uploading a file from your device or sharing a video from another platform like YouTube or Dailymotion.

Upload a Video on Viously

You can upload your videos with a video file or a third-party platform URL via your account. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Log in to your Viously account

To upload a video, you'll first need to log into your Viously account. If you're new to Viously, you can easily create an account by clicking on the Sign Up button. Once logged in, you'll have access to all the platform’s features, including the video upload functionality.

  1. Access the "Add Video" option

After logging in, navigate to the "Add video" button, located conveniently at the top-right corner of the screen next to your profile picture. This option is always accessible, making it easy to upload content no matter where you are on the platform.

  1. Choose your Preferred upload method

Once you've clicked on "Add video", you'll be prompted to select how you want to upload your video. Viously provides several flexible options for uploading:

  • File Upload: This option allows you to upload a video directly from your device. You can select a video file from your computer, making it perfect for content creators who have pre-recorded content.
  • URL Upload: If your video is already hosted on a third-party platform such as YouTube, Dailymotion, or another supported service, you can choose this option. Simply paste the URL of your video, and Viously will automatically fetch the video details for you.
  • API Upload: For developers or those who wish to automate the upload process, you can upload videos directly through the Viously API. This method allows for seamless integration with your own systems or applications.

Bulk Upload Available

If you need to upload multiple videos at once, Viously offers bulk upload options. Whether you have a large number of files or URLs to upload, our platform can streamline the process. For more details, check out the Bulk Upload Guide.

  1. Fill in the Video Information

Regardless of the upload method you choose, you’ll need to fill in the following required information for your video:

  • Title (required): The title of your video, which will be displayed to viewers.
  • Description (required): A brief description of your video content.
  • Category (required): Select the appropriate category for your video (e.g., news, entertainment, etc.).
  • Language (required): The language of your video. By default, this is based on your profile settings but can be changed.
  • Tags: You can add up to 5 tags to help categorize your video and improve discoverability. Make sure your tags are relevant to the content to keep them meaningful and targeted.
  • Channel: Choose a channel where this video will be uploaded.

For videos uploaded via URL, Viously will attempt to pre-fill some of the required fields (title, description, etc.) based on the information retrieved from the third-party platform. However, you can always review and modify these details before saving.

Thumbnail

  • File Upload: The platform will generate a thumbnail from the 4th second of your uploaded video.
  • URL Upload: The thumbnail of your video will be automatically retrieved from the third-party platform.

In both cases, you can always edit the thumbnail later if you want to customize it.

  1. Save and Publish Your Video
Once all the information is filled in, click the "Save" button. Your video will be uploaded to the platform, and it will become available for viewers and others publishers based on your selected privacy settings (public or hidden).

Please note: After you save, your video will be processed to ensure the best viewing experience. We’ll handle the encoding into various qualities to optimize playback across different devices and network conditions. You can monitor the status of your video in your Library, where a badge on the thumbnail will keep you updated on the progress of your video processing (see below).
